INTRODUCTION
GACC International Inter-Varsity Chess Championship is a chess tournament organised by Tuanku Bahiyah Residential College (formerly known as Second Residential College), University of Malaya. It is open to undergraduates fro all over the globe and it is held on cooperation with the Rakan Muda and under the auspices of Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF). Formerly, this event was known as The Grand Asian Chess Challenge (GACC) and is open only for Asian region. After receiving positive response from the participants since it was first held, it has become an international event

OBJECTIVES
- To enhance the standard of chess among the participants from various university.
- To foster closer tie amongst participants and university around the world.
- To promote the game of chess so as to become one of the hobbies among undergraduates around the world especially undergraduates of University of Malaya.
- To expose youth of today to prejects of such magnitudes in the spirit ofsportsmanship.
- To promote Malaysian’s culture to public in line of making Malaysia a popular tourist attraction.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
- To create an awareness amongst undergraduates of importance of fostering better tie in the world.
- To set an example to other nations that relationship exist even amongst undergraduates from
various countries, culture and ethnic backgrounds.

- The idea of this logo is generated from the symbols used to represent the countries and its powerful strength and also the game of chess.
- The walk-like actually represent part of the ASEAN logo. The colour yellow represent positive behaviour and enthusiasm, which is highly evident in everybody involved in GACC, from the committee members to participants. Red represent dynamism and fiery spirit of the ASEAN countries.
- The rook, one of the most important pieces in chess, embodies the strength and solodarity of ASEAN, sturdy and unshakable like a castle. The colour blue is a sign of vibrant leadership qualities and also the iron spirit of the people involved in GACC.
